Preliminary Finding Aid to Plats

There being no index to plats, maps and sketches recorded in Deed Books from 1919 until 1950, the Preliminary Finding Aid to Plats was created to provide a searchable guide to those items.

The Preliminary Finding Aid to Plats documents 146 plats, maps and sketches recorded in Deed Books 51 through 65 and covering the period between March 3, 1919 and November 10, 1931. The Finding Aid will be expanded as resources allow.

The finding aid provides access to plats through the name of a grantor, grantee, property owner, tenant, adjacent land owner, surveyor, landmark, natural boundary, bounding street or subdivision name. Data was collected not only from the plats but also from the text of the instruments accompanying them.

This finding aid was created, designed and developed by Shellye Logan Burrow, senior at the University of Mary Washington, during her 2011 fall semester internship with the Fredericksburg Circuit Court Archives
